Research and training in limbo

Education department in punjab faces an institutional crisis. With little financial support from the state government, the acitivities in the schools and other wings of the department depend highly on the central grants received for sarav sikhsa abhyan. The Director general school Education, Mr Krishan Kumar, an otherwise upright person has his own whims and fancies. He has virtually created his own paraphernalia getting raw hands and new recruits in the education department out of the schools and put on monitoring and inspection duties creating artificial shortage in the schools and replacing them with education volunteers with SSA funds. The training institutions like Govt Inservice Training Centres have been marginlised though they have NCERT trained Staff well versed in educational and psychological needs of Punjab schools. The way Mr Krishan kumar conducts himself in meetings and in parlance with teachers and officers smacks of a cynical disrespect and allergy towards intellectual domain. He is on the path of demolishing intellectual institutions by character assassination and virtually creating a fear psychosis among teachers and officers with little faith in democracy. The maoists demolish the buildings and infrastructure physically, he is doing the same demolishing the intellectual institutions closing them or making them non-entities. Punjab education weeps and it must weep for its future.

water

Coleridge wrote meaningfully :
Water water every where, not a drop to drink. The same is true about this little city. When even a little shower charms the city dwellers, the pools of rainwater and slush gather on the roads and streets. For hours together, people wade through knee deep water. Where is the municipal lords. Well, they may be busy in some celebrations. And if you crave for drinking water, please take heart. Plans are afoot. That is what I have been hearing the city Mai - Baap since childhood.
